Chiara is a careful and aware mother.
She likes to prepare fresh and healthy foods for her 3 children, she is slowly transitioning. Starting by her children’s snacks.
I want to publish her story as something has impressed me, she wrote that she has taken out butter and started to use seed oil instead.
This is for sure one of the first steps towards a healthier life for the entire family.
I know that she has also started making her own sourdough and eliminating chemical yeast.
I am sure that her story will be appreciated by many, as we don’t always need to do great things to help the environment!
If we all made just a few steps, it would be a great step for mankind!
My “American non-cookies”
"Last Friday, as it often happens since the past two months, every other day, I had to prepare something good, healthy and good for my children’s afternoon tea break.
During our free days, we spend the afternoon at home we have fun making homemade snacks from a “simple” yogurt with cereal to more elaborate pancakes.
But when the snack needs to be eaten as soon as sport has finished (this year we are dedicated to athletics), the snack becomes more complicated as it needs to be prepared beforehand and eaten on the go.
I didn’t want to make the usual sandwich, therefore I wanted to try a biscuit recipe of a friend of mine. These biscuits were original all American cookies, but the healthy mother in me didn’t even read all the ingredients when I saw butter (you know that butter is not healthy!) so I launched myself into a research of an alternative ingredient.
And this i show I found a great alternative to realize delicious “American non-cookies”:
200 gr flour
100 gr brown sugar
80 gr yogurt and 25 gr of oil (instead of 125gr of butter)
1 tsp of yeast
125 g drops of chocolate (I use white chocolate, but I have been told not to use them anymore, the right ones are dark chocolate drops!)
I used the Thermomix:
Poor the sugar and the egg, speed. 4 for 2 minutes
add, flour, yogurt and oil: speed 4 for 1 minute
add the yeast and chocolate drops, speed 2 antiorario for 10 seconds
Mix the egg and the sugar into a cream, add the yogurt and the oil and continue to mix well with an electric mixer; add the flour, the yeast and the chocolate mix with a wooden spoon.
When ready, turn the oven on at 180° in static mode (if it is an electric oven)
Make balls with the dough and flatten them with your hands, put them on the pan with oven paper and put in oven for 15 minutes, take out and cool down on a grill.
My kids loved them!
Ops, who knows what I will invent today…”
