Burro di noccioline, noci, pistacchio fatto al momento/freshly made butter made of peanuts, pistacchios, walnuts... |

A few months ago we started talking about loose shopping, meaning all of those things we buy which could eliminate packaging. You know by now that our site intends to push you to eliminate your waste, from food waste, to the reduction of packaging and the elimination of useless disposablewaste!
We have talked about the experience of Ricarica a detergent bulk shop in Milan, fortunately more and more of these can be found in many towns now. But I would like to talk about food shops.
A few specialized shops have opened in Italy but not many such as Pesonetto (here is the video) and there are more and more wine and bear bulk shop.
I have always dreamed of a shop where I could take all of my containers to be filled freely without any packaging so to eliminate my waste! A shop with many products with reasonable prices! But there aren’t any in my town!
While I was in London, I saw the “bulk paradise!” where I could buy all kinds of foods without any packaging. Pasta, pulses, cereal, flour, spices, coco, tea, coffee, but also nut butters made on the spot, oil, wine, vinegar, …everything you may need. If you also add fresh fruit and vegies then you can have an entire shopping system without packaging and eliminate plastic! This would be a way to eliminate the huge waste problem we all have in our countries, as it would reduce the space dedicated to waste and we could stop building incinerators which are polluting our towns. We could then hope to have a “green” country, especially if we then had organic made packaging!
My hope is that soon, these shops will be available everywhere!
Would you shop using your own containers?
